Sapphire Point Engagement Session | Amy & JT | Lake Dillion, Colorado

I was so excited to hear Amy and JT were coming in town for the long weekend and that we could fit in a winter wonderland engagement session at Lake Dillon while they were here. As with most of the holiday weekends around Colorado lately, a big snowstorm was coming through. We kept watching the weather and hoping that there was going to be a little break in the storm in order to have time to take pictures outside and when it didn’t look like a crazy blizzard. We got so lucky! We shifted the session by an hour to take advantage of the predicted three hour break in the snow! Yippeee!

Amy & JT are giggly, fun and adventurous together! They love to travel the world together! They even got engaged on the top of Mt. Fuji, talk about an adventure! They hiked to the top and JT proposed at the summit! I’m so happy that they found each other on that weekend trip in Virginia and just knew! I adore how they look at each other and make each other smile!

We had such a blast playing around in the snow at Lake Dillion, Colorado! They were such troopers when we adventured far enough on the trail that they kept post-holing in order to get the greatest views. With all the recent snowfall there hasn't been enough time to compact it down. All I know is we couldn't stop laughing! I had so much fun with Amy & JT! Falling over in the snow and all!

We went hiking around in the snow and took in all the views of Lake Dillion. I always like to include two different nearby spots, if possible, during an engagement photography session in order to get different views. Both were around Lake Dillon, one was near the shore and the other one was at Sapphire Point, which has a high vantage point of the lake. We could see Peak One and the new avalanche shoot really well from Sapphire Point. The clouds were vastly approaching but we could still see it across Lake Dillon. The power and beauty of snow will always be inspiring and humbling to this little human.

We celebrated their engagement session with the best dessert beer I’ve ever had! They surprised me with Peanut Butter Graham Cracker Porter, by Denver Beer Co., and oh my goodness was it delicious beer! We cheers and hugged and I just can’t wait for these two amazing individuals to say “I DO!”

Let’s get to know Amy & JT:

How did you two meet?

Amy was in Norfolk, VA for a weekend visiting a mutual friend. The mutual friend invited JT to join them for the weekend and introduced us. We hit it off immediately and spent the entire weekend together. For the next three years we did long distance through two military deployments and two moves. In 2017 we moved in together in Alexandria VA and have been living together ever since.

What's the bride's favorite thing about the groom?

The way he lights up the room with his positivity when he walks in.

What's the groom's favorite thing about the bride?

It is a toss-up between her sense of adventure and her sense of humor. I love that she wants to travel and see unknown places that other travelers might not think are exciting, but I also love the fact that she can be silly and doesn't take life too seriously.

What is your favorite thing to do as a couple?

Trying new things together.

Everywhere, because we want to see everything!! And try the food.

If y'all could sit down and eat dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Amy's choice, Ina Garten because she is a strong successful businesswoman and we would love to eat one of her meals.

JT's choice is George Washington, because I would want to see if the man in real life is like the legend we have made him out to be.

If y'all both got to pick a superpower, what would y'all pick and why?

Amy would want to fly, because it would be so much fun. JT would choose whatever power Captain Marvel has, so I can just fly around outer space doing my thing.
